Behind the Scenes
How I Build Apps As a Solo Developer
Ever wonder what it’s like to build apps alone, start to finish? Welcome to the behind-the-scenes of OrbitApps.
Being a solo developer isn’t glamorous — it’s messy, challenging, and full of small wins. But it’s also incredibly rewarding. I get to control every decision, ship updates quickly, and stay close to the people who actually use my apps — that’s you.
My Workflow
Here’s a glimpse into a typical day:
Ideas & Brainstorming
Every app starts as a small idea — often something I personally need. I jot ideas down, sketch features, and sometimes just experiment until something clicks.Design & Prototyping
I keep things minimal: rough sketches, wireframes, or quick mockups. The goal isn’t beauty at first — it’s clarity and usability.Coding & Development
I write every line of code myself. This means fewer dependencies, faster iterations, and complete control over the user experience.Testing & Feedback
I test extensively — often alone at first, then with early users. Feedback shapes the product more than any plan or roadmap.Iteration & Launch
Small, frequent updates are better than big releases. Every improvement is guided by what makes the app genuinely useful.
The Tools I Use
Lightweight frameworks for quick prototyping
Simple design tools (Figma, Canva, or hand sketches)
Git & version control
Substack to communicate with you — my community
No bloated software, no unnecessary complexity — just tools that help me build, ship, and improve fast.
Why I Share This
I want OrbitApps to be more than apps — I want it to be a journey you can follow.
Sharing the process helps:
Build trust
Show that indie apps can be thoughtful and polished
Invite you to participate in the journey
A peek at the future
This is just the start. By being transparent, I hope you’ll feel involved in shaping what OrbitApps becomes.
Expect more sneak peeks, early-access invitations, and stories from the maker’s desk.
Thanks for following along — your support means everything.
